Mark is Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He and his family live in the famously haunted Allen House in Monticello, Arkansas.
His book A Haunted Love Story: The Ghosts of the Allen House led to episodes of the TV shows A Haunting, Paranormal Witness, My Ghost Story, Ghost Brothers, and Ghost Hunters.
Mark is also the author of the novels An Untimely Frost, Ghost Walking, The Masked Demon, The Weary Motel, Love and Reruns in Adams County; and his short-fiction collections Wedlock and Trespassers; and the history book Images of America: Monticello.
Mark’s work has received The Faulkner Award and the Omaha Prize for the Novel, the Bradshaw Book Award, the St. Andrews Short Fiction Award, and four Special Mentions in Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses. More than 125 of his short works have appeared in a wide range of national and international journals.
